You know, being from Ohio I have no idea if any classes take part in real time (in person).
I think Marty may be right. However; I know they have in person retreats and events at their place in California.

Perhaps someone who works directly from UMS can answer this better (waves to them).

Blessings~

Well - ever one to try to get in on the act (!) ,,, ha ha ..

My interpertation accords with Jillifer's - online, but with the opportunity for retreats; except to also add, there are creative pieces one submits, or meditations, and similar, where there is extensive and quite in-depth personal feedback, so it is not as if one is being taught by a faceless, soul-less computer

Not that you ask this, but for me, it is one of the best things I have ever done

ps, living in the UK, I do miss the possibility of getting to retreats; equally, if it had not been online, I could not have done the programme, and it is totally unique, as I researched the whole subject extensively before signing up (and I paid upfront, in advance also)

There are retreats and work/study programs to attend the retreats. You work so many hours a week at the retreat in exchange for partial tuition and/or the opportunity to attend special meditation programs. Like Paul said, it is one the the best things I've done for my self. Keep in mind that I have 2 secular degrees, a bachelors in Health Care Management and a masters in Human Resources Development. Upon hearing about UMS, after about a week of pondering it over, I couldn't shake it off. I had to admit I was drawn to it. About 3 months later, when I had gathered the money, I paid up front for the whole program, PhD and DD included. However, there are payment plans available. My seculer degrees didn't do it for me. I appreciate having gone through the educational process, but at the same time, the process really separated me from my true self. You know, chasing after "success" and all. UMS has been quite a different experience for me. Even though I haven't completed all the courses yet, my bachelors creative project just came to me quite spontaneousy. Its changed my life and really placed me into the present moment with my true self. It also has given me some great ideas for my masters thesis and the 2 doctorates. Its been a really enjoyable process and the process is what it is all about for me. I get to be myself at all times. With a little experience under your belt, you really start to appreciate whats going on here and how its being done. I've been a student at UMS since about March of 2008. I've completed about 24 courses so far. I think there's about 80 give or take. It fits right in with my work schedule. Its all self paced. Anyway, thats my take on it.

It has upon reflection, come to my attention that possibly I could have offended certain people considering a comment I posted a few days ago about the living of a "significant" life. It didn't seem offensive to me at the time I wrote it, but when I read it again, it became clear to me that it could have been interpreted differently.
I apologize to anyone who may have seen a different meaning in my words. I'll be more aware of the words I chose in the future. Peace -- Robert

How sensitive of you Robert: I personally had not noticed any offence on 'significance', but resonated totally; though also live with that aspiration constantly ...

ps, I am also qualified in social work, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, university teaching and management (MBA, grade A) ... as well as having published .... but UMS integrates it all, and more ....

Quite a good resume there. I am so stoked on UMS and the opportunity it offers to "fill in the gaps." It really does integrate everthing. It answers my spiritual leanings.
I have done hypnosis, NLP, and Time Line Therapy in the past.

Going to the movies with my wife. I'm so glad I paid for UMS right up front (PhD and DD) because right now I'm out of work. But hopefully I'll have a job within the month with insurance.

Namaste,

Robert

I didn't see anything wrong with your comments at all Robert. It just sounds to me like you are very excited about your choice and is also coming from an already well educated person.
I found your response very energetic and REAL!
It's all good~
