Location: Worldwide | It has come to our attention that many users registered on the Board are simply "spammers." The danger here could be that if you are perusing the User Listings and click on one of these spammers links you might be at risk for a virus or a whole slew of spamming emails.
I will be going through the User Listings and deleting users who are more obviously trying to advertise (Penis Enlargement, Cigarettes) and have never posted. I will also be purging users who registered in 2006 or before who have never posted or visited since that time.
It is going to take me a bit of time to do this. I suggest being very wary of clicking on website urls for people that you may not know. |

Location: United Kingdom | Thanks -very helpful; I tend not to click on unknown URLs anyway. I remember Sunflower raised this as a concern yonks back and i had assumed it had been sorted.
This is also the reason why I tend to be slightly guarded about divulging too much personal information on what is a very public board.

Location: NE Ohio | Yeah, I always keep my eyes open for spam in posts. They get deleted or moved into mod area for review.
My website got hit by a spam bot not too long ago. It subsided but was a pain in the booty for a while.
Will keep a watch for it.

Spam, spam, spam, spam .... came from one of their great comedy sketches, that I could recuite virtually from memory if anyone would like ... but shy old me would need to be asked !! |

Location: NE Ohio | Sometimes people don't want to show their identity, and then there are spam bots, that try to simultaneously log in massive amounts at a time to place advertisement. They don't get very far here, because we don't let people place in links to advertise. They get booted. That is where us mods come in. If you notice it somewhere, please do bring it to my attention, or one of the other mods. I am here the most, while I don't always chat, I check my email on posts at least four or five times daily.
The good thing is, you have to sign up for an account to be able to read anything or post. Some people do just for spamming us, and we get rid of that. If they want to stay and chat, that is fine, but we don't want to buy their stuff. If someone really is interested, they can contact them, or click their link in the signature box. That is where people are able to place their personal links. We allow this, because each member has a choice to view or not view siggy's.
Oh yeah, Marty..... I was singing Karaoke last weekend and won a can of SPAM! ha ha ha
Too bad I hate the stuff.... ACK. I think my hubby keeps it in his work truck for emergency food.
Enjoy the boards... any issues, please bring em to our attention or ask. Many people here are very knowledgable and able to easily help.
