Moderator Posts: 15 | I will post originals soon, but I swoon with Rumi, so here you are: A moment of happiness, you and I sitting on the verandah, apparently two, but one in soul, you and I. We feel the flowing water of life here, you and I, with the garden's beauty and the birds singing. The stars will be watching us, and we will show them what it is to be a thin crescent moon. You and I unselfed, will be together, indifferent to idle speculation, you and I. The parrots of heaven will be cracking sugar as we laugh together, you and I. In one form upon this earth, and in another form in a timeless sweet land. ...long sigh... Devon

O Friend! go not there; In your body is the garden of flowers Take your seat on the thousand petals of the lotus, and gaze there on the Infinite Beauty ............................ here's one from my holiday: At a Railway Station in Paris You, shoeless at the Gare du Norde We travellers ignored your pleas No change for exiled families or those who might otherwise feed off you: who sates your needs, wherein your comfort lies? What have you seen with such angry eyes? Yet we gave you nothing - shoe'd you away. Your sisters at least had sandals. You were a barefoot angel, shoeless at the Gare du Norde

UMS Guest Posts: 1938 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | All Of Life Is Flowingness And in this flowing, there is meaning and law. I cannot lose, what is my own; I need not seek, what is my own, For what belongs to me, will come. Whatever goes does not belong to me. Only what I am has power. I now give up all personal struggle and ambition, Knowing that all that is rightfully mine Will then be drawn to me. So, I now let go, And trust my Highest Self and the Universe, To run my life for me And to always show me the way. Anon. May your quirky sense of humour never fail to Lift you and all of us above the gloom of this world By helping us to recognise the funny side of everything. May the knowledge that you are spirit and soul Help you rise above the Earth plane, Your ruling element for your present lifetime. May your ever growing conscious awareness of The oneness with our Creator and all life, When your time for doing so has come, Aid you with leaving your earthly existence without a struggle, Winging your way back into our true home, The world of light, with the greatest of ease. I know lots of 'em (poems that is) but they are more of the Limerick variety, and not so suitable for much of anything. How about Songs? No, wait, that is another thread too. UMS Guest Posts: 1938 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | The Rose ![]() Some say love – It is a river that drowns the tender reed. Some say love – It is a razor that leaves the soul to bleed. Some say love – It is a hunger, an endless aching need. I say: ‘Love – It is a flower and we its only seed.’ It’s the heart Afraid of breaking that never learns to dance. It’s the dream Afraid of waking that never takes a chance. It’s the one Who won’t be taken that cannot seem to give. And the soul Afraid of dying that never learns to live. When the night has been too lonely And the road has been too long, When you think that love is only For the lucky and the strong, Just remember in the winter, Far beneath the bitter snows, Lies the seed that with the Sun’s love, In the spring, becomes The Rose. PhD Alumni Posts: 4414 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | The Journey Of The Magi by T S Eliot 'A cold coming we had of it, Just the worst time of the year For a journey, and such a long journey: The ways deep and the weather sharp, The very dead of winter.' And the camels galled, sorefooted, refractory, Lying down in the melting snow. There were times we regretted The summer palaces on slopes, the terraces, And the silken girls bringing sherbet. Then the camel men cursing and grumbling and running away, and wanting their liquor and women, And the night-fires going out, and the lack of shelters, And the cities hostile and the towns unfriendly And the villages dirty and charging high prices: A hard time we had of it. At the end we preferred to travel all night, Sleeping in snatches, With the voices singing in our ears, saying That this was all folly. Then at dawn we came down to a temperate valley, Wet, below the snow line, smelling of vegetation; With a running stream and a water-mill beating the darkness, And three trees on the low sky, And an old white horse galloped away in the meadow. Then we came to a tavern with vine-leaves over the lintel, Six hands at an open door dicing for pieces of silver, And feet kicking the empty wine-skins. But there was no information, and so we continued And arriving at evening, not a moment too soon Finding the place; it was (you might say) satisfactory. All this was a long time ago, I remember, And I would do it again, but set down This set down This: were we led all that way for Birth or Death? There was a Birth, certainly We had evidence and no doubt. I had seen birth and death, But had thought they were different; this Birth was Hard and bitter agony for us, like Death, our death. We returned to our places, these Kingdoms, But no longer at ease here, in the old dispensation, With an alien people clutching their gods. I should be glad of another death. UMS Guest Posts: 1938 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | The Race Of Life ![]() When sometimes you feel out of place, You’ve further to run just to stay in the race, And the journey ahead seems too hard to face, Don’t give up. When legs become weak, and muscles burn, And the Earth beneath you begins to churn, To safer ground, your thoughts may turn, yet Don’t give up. When your heart can offer you nothing more, When defeat descends like a leaden door, With your confidence leaking from every pore, Don’t give up. When all you can do is stay in the race, Rejecting all compromise; not saving face, When you dig deep just to keep your pace, Don’t give up. You’ll reach a point when, as you make the last turn, From deep within, a force starts to burn, Internal fires fuelled, when you yearn, Just don’t give up. The finish line, that glint of gold Is reached by those who do not fold, For guiding hands come to the bold, Who don’t give up That vein of gold you rush to meet, The pulse of life pounds with your feet, You’ll find resolve in every beat, when you Don’t give up! PhD Alumni Posts: 4414 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | Dear Aquarius Hmmmm ... I find it hard to resonate with the sentiments of that Race of Life, sorry .... well I kind of do, it is kind of how I have been approaching life, although more from the self-sacrificial aspect rather than the possibly more capitalist, competitive implications of the picture .... but whichever way it has brought me personally to the point of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion: and is intolerable as a way of life fit for Divine purpose. I think more of an approach that enables surrender, love and devotion are more the Way of the Divine ... although they are equally hard and quite disciplined to embody, incarnate and fulfill. So I certainly cannot claim to practice what I preach, in either respect! Best of Everything to Everyone Paul Edited by Paul Joseph 1/16/2016 6:25 AM

UMS Guest Posts: 1938 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | Hello Paul, That's how one reacts to life when one has learnt from the mistakes of the past and at long last listens to what our spirit and soul have to say, i.e. stop and take it easier. Earning lots of money is NOT the purpose of your being on the Earth plane. You have been granted the gift of another lifetime so that you can learn this lesson and then put it to good use by looking for more satisfactory ways of living and being. Something like that . . . Only the best to you, too. With love - Aquarius * * *
