PhD Alumni Posts: 773 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Arizona | Hi fellow students! Just wondering where everyone is in their journey. I just completed my 14th Bachelor level course. If I loved this University any more than I already do, I would bust! I hope everyone is enjoying the process.... Lori

PhD Alumni Posts: 4414 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | Nooooo : didn't mean to imply that, sorry; I'm just kind of shy, I guess. But it might sit equally well in the student area. Maybe I'll think about where it feels best to reply ...

Alumni Posts: 231 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: California, USA | Yes, I've already decided on a thesis topic, as well as decided on a broad category for my dissertation. I will narrow it down further as I read. Edited by soulfire 5/23/2008 5:56 PM

PhD Alumni Posts: 4414 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | Shy, modest, and often look around thinking there has been some mistake ... !! I thought about this and then realized some dear folk who post may not be students, and may be interested (though there is too the graduate board on the open site). I was also a bit reticent because I am feeling rather overwhelmed with the news that i have just completed my doctoral work. So it can be done - keep at it all ! I too have found UMS immensely life & spirit enhancing and do want to keep in touch with everyone xx Blessings Paul

PhD Alumni Posts: 1882 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: NE Ohio | I finished with all the courses back around Oct. 2006, had my dissertation done before my thesis, because i accidentally made it too large. It was suggested to use my thesis, as my dissertation instead. So I just had to re-write a new thesis. The dissertation took me about 6 months to create. The thesis was done in two days. I think they are pretty easy to write, if you pick something you really love. Then it just flows right out. I must say, i cannot pick a favorite, but i loved many courses. There were very few that i didn't absolutely love. Since this school, i have gone to three other schools. I specialized in hypnotherapy, then got my BA in psychology. Now I am working on my MS in Mental Health Counseling, to go with my hypnotherapy, and spiritual counseling. I am also keeping busy performing weddings. I have married 14 couples and have 5 more scheduled as of now. I have only been in the yellow pages since Jan. So that is another fantastic service one can do with UMS schooling. All i know is if I can do it, you all can do it. Should anyone have problems, i would be more than happy to share my own techniques or understanding. I can even recommend a great citation website for your needs to correctly cite your references in either MLA, APA or Chicago style formats. Just go to http://www.Knightcite.com Then copy and paste what they give you, after you fill in the blanks, and place it in alphabetical order on your reference sheet of your thesis or dissertation. This website is awesome for quoting your citations correctly and have saved my rear on many accounts. LOL My kids told me about this site, and I am sharing the free resource. Anyway.... i hope you love it all like i did and still do. Even after nearly a year and half of being done, i always go back to my courses for help. Blessings~

PhD Alumni Posts: 4414 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | I am sure you will; just keep at the 'patient discipline' thing ! As for me, I am open to whatever the Divinity passes to me. I do feel I need a recovery path out of social work management which takes its toll out of me too much.

PhD Alumni Posts: 773 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Arizona | I can only imagine how much it does, I rather empathize with you..nursing must be almost the same, except your care is not physical that you provide....yours is all...in the head! (notice the lack of caffeine in my veins-I'll come around)

I have not read it yet but am looking forward to it, especially since questions have come to me lately about energy beings that surround us or attach to us. Enrolled students and alumni who wish to purchase an extra elective for $10. can. It is quite amazing what Jill has done, directing her energy to accomplish so many interesting things, and a great Mom, friend, and wife too!

PhD Alumni Posts: 1882 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: NE Ohio | Hey all, Thanks for such compliments. Sometimes I feel pulled at in all directions, but it works out somehow. LOL It was my thesis that was turned into an elective. I was actually shocked they wanted that one over the bigger one....I threw the one they took together in two days. It just flowed out, like it wasn't me. Perhaps that is why it worked. Thanks again. As far as marriages; I had to send a photo copy of my certificate of ordination to the state of Ohio with their fee. (always about money) once I did that, they send back a license. This isn't in all states, but in Ohio i had to do that. Some states are free, some more, some less. I think Ohio was $10 bucks. No biggy. Then all i did was create a website. (which got my first clients). Then i placed ads in the yellow pages (Just listings). Which is what is working for all the rest of the clients. I am in three different local phone books under Wedding Ceremonies. I bought a black robe and a purple stoll. I haven't used that one yet, i will next weekend. It's easy and pretty quick. I do get extra nervous.... because when i get nervous i can tend to be a dyslexic speaker. NOT a good thing. LOL I will swap letters of words exactly somehow. I.e. I will mean to say let the sun shine, and will accidentally say let the shun sine. So i have to make sure I slow it down, take deep breaths, and I do fine. This also helps the nervous couple. Me telling them to take a deep breath, while I needed it, has helped. I remember a couple actually came up and Thanked me for reminding them to take a deep breath. Just prior to starting the ceremony. Over all, it's been a blessing~ I consider myself one lucky person. ha ha

I am not in the office, not usually there on Fridays. Soulfire, the rules are different in each state, but Jill's experience seems about the norm. Jill, Each mistake you make brings a special energy to each wedding! It's joyful!
