PhD Alumni Posts: 1882 Location: NE Ohio	It's very to be only allergic to certain nuts. My husband can eat nearly all of them, except one. When he eats that one type of nut, his mouth starts to tingle and itch, and starts swelling up. Then you cannot breathe, because your throat swells shut. I thought i was not allergic to Shrimp... But one day, I ate some and BAM.... my tongue started to itch, i started getting tingly and ran and took a benadryl right away. My gosh.... I did not have to go to the ER.... but it scared me. I did try eating it again at home. It had to be fully cooked.... i think the one I ate prior must have been one that didn't get cooked enough. Other than that.... our bodies do shift and change and what effects us now, may not effect us later. It would really be nice if I could NOT be allergic to cats.... I would love to have a kitty. I have been unable to have one my entire life and well... I envy those that can.
