Expert Posts: 2118 ![]() ![]() Location: The Heart of Space | Well now....I ain't never been good at math....but if you do the math a certain way, at Planck length distances, a particle can travel back in time. So, it would stand to reason that in quantized space-time, at each Planck length interval of travel, a photon goes BOTH forward and backward in time. If the photon no longer goes forward (say it meets some target), its state is then determined. The determination is then carried by the photon backwards in time, retracing its route, to influence its state at inception AND perception by an observer. This always leads back to my understanding or misunderstanding of time. 2 + 2 has never equaled 4, Marty

Expert Posts: 2118 ![]() ![]() Location: The Heart of Space | Bravo Paul! A good point. We know that paired electrons, if separated, and traveling through space-time, ALWAYS maintain their orientation to each other, no matter how far away from each other they are. The question is how do they know what state each is in and how do they communicate what adjustment is necessary to maintain the natal orientation? My belief is that they are each cognizant of itself, AND aware of the other. By mutual agreement, the orientation continues. So, my humble answer is yes, the electrons as well as the photons are indeed conscious, in a sense that we are not capable of understanding (but one which we seek when we do things like be part of UMS). Expert Posts: 2118 ![]() ![]() Location: The Heart of Space | Good article...thanks Big O! A belated Happy Thanksgiving to my American compatriots, Still, with all the focus on quantum mechanics, there is an open, wild. frontier to explore...and that is "time" If things can react across space-time instantaneously, then time simply cannot be as Einstein said it is. Time is actually peculiar energy that exists at all times and in all places, Hypnotronically Yours, Marty

Expert Posts: 2118 ![]() ![]() Location: The Heart of Space | Hi all, As Michaelmas draws to a close and we anticipate Hilary, it is time to think of Yuletide stuff...including British Christmas Adverts! Many disappointments this year, and much controversy, particularly over Sainsbury (who owned years 2014 and 2015). I will write on the wall what I think is the best this year. BTW, the best is decided by how many tissues I go through while watching the commercial. If you have never experienced Brit Christmas tv advertisements, do so on You Tube. Once again, the Brits beat us Yanks hands down. The xmas-y McDonalds and the Budweiser Clydesdales just are not as good, and I don't waste a single Kleenex on them. Happy Holly-daz, Marty

Vibrate On O Hi everyone. I've come out of hiding temporarily to read the boards a little. Trying to gain momentum, yet again to do my dissertation. I want to do it, I want it done, but oy it's intimidating to me. I still wish the boards were more active regarding the work students do here, at each stage.... I've just read this article and I find the concepts resonate. I actually thought when I first enrolled at UMS we would be studying more things like this. Edited by Disa 3/24/2018 1:12 PM

PhD Alumni Posts: 4414 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: United Kingdom | Hi again Disa Yes, bit like wading through treacle between the floorboards hereabouts of late .. I thought that article was very interesting too ... just before Christmas I think I posted an old-ish journal article of mine about Santa Claus and spiritual significance thereof, but nobody came back to me about it .... ho hum ... Someone also said before sites like Fb had taken the place of the Board ... given recent events, I am glad I did not sign up ... off to complete dinner now ( 18:40 in UK, and clocks go forward tonight ... Sweet times Paul

Expert Posts: 2118 ![]() ![]() Location: The Heart of Space | Hallo Mates! I took a little looky-loo at the Easter thread, lo and behold, it reflects the weather we had for Easter-a bit on the frozen side. Personally speaking, I do not see what the hub-bub is all about?? The very few of us who participate in this board know the peeps involved very well (ha ha-I snuck in an Easter joke) We know the argot and patois that is like a signature to every post. At a time when participation is the low end of single digits, any participation (as long as the participant adheres to the rules of the board) might be welcome. Just sayin.......... Peaceover and Popovers on a Sunday morning, Marty
