I am greatly considering enrolling into the UMS degree programs. I plan on saving up the cash that i will need for all 3 of my degrees before I register, it will be much easier for me that way instead of a payment plan. Until that time though, i do plan on browsing this forum and interacting in discussions that suit my interests. On this thread here that I've started, I would love for it to be for all currently enrolled UMS students and UMS Alumni to share their favorite moments, classes, experiences, and whatever they would love to tell me about their journey here.

I am also eager to talk with anyone who wishes to discuss the following:

-Reiki
-Crystals/Gemstones/Minerals
-Aromatherapy
-Essential Oils
-Astrology
-Energy Healing
-Moon Magickal Correspondence

and other various Metaphysical studies and Divination practices.

I sense this is a place where people are equally a teacher as they are students, and I look forward to learning and growing with all of you ~8~

Hello and welcome Padrona

The best of luck with your journey hereabouts.

I chose UMS rather than an academic PhD programme because UMS offers a combination of theory and praxis, with spirituality and meditation; as well as art, creativity and all kinds of stuff, New Age and traditional. Although you might just need to take cognizance of the fact that the degree is not necessarily recognised by formal institutions, that does not necessarily matter if your journey is more personal and integrative. That, I think, after much considered deliberation and encounters with more traditional PhDs, is a limitation on the part of the formal institutions, rather than a limitation of UMS (as a Board colleague hereabouts once said to me, we await the rest of the world catching up with us!)

I also went on to gain the AAMA accreditation too, which makes me feel very validated!

What with the current very worrying trends in the world order, I think UMS - and this Discussion Board - actually have a unique and important mission in offering a contemporary path towards planetary holistic integration. Though I fear things are going to get worse before getting better.

Apologies to other Board friends I have not been able to post much lately, I have been much occupied with other personal and professional concerns. But I check the Board regularly, and great to see everyone's posts.

Blessings & Namaste

Paul

Welcome Padrona,

Have you already browsed the threads where prospective students posted their inquiries? Many of us have shared our experiences, opinions, and other miscellaneous information on those threads. Some of them may be useful to you. It may be easier if you ask us questions and then we can answer with things more in line with what it is you want to know.

I will just mention that the meditations provided along with the courses are more beneficial than I even have the words to describe. Along with learning about many different topics and healing modalities in metaphysics, these courses have the ability to help us heal ourselves, at the same time we are learning to heal others.

Good luck on your journey with the school, and remember we are always here to help, encourage, commiserate, or whatever else is needed along the way.

Oh, I'm a fairly new Reiki practioner, so would be glad to discuss Reiki with you, as well.

P.S. Hi, PJ- so good to see you

Thank you both for the warm inviting greeting! I have been reading amongst the threads and all of this is such a breath of fresh air for me. I look forward to enrolling to UMS as soon as i am able to. This is like a dream come true being on here and reading all the discussions have been very healing as it is invigorating.

Disa, I look forward to sharing and discussing Reiki with you. I am currently a Reiki II practitioner and have been enjoying my journey within the healing practice. Growing up, my mother was a Reiki Master, so I have always been familiar with it. I started my journey after coming into awakening from a major car accident in April of 2011. After coming to a realization of how everything always has been, I knew what I was meant to pursue as my chosen path. I began to fully embrace everything that has always brought me solitude and found the beauty in things that I thought I had lost. Many of the things have listed above are things I have been learing about since i was a child and have reconnected with and I am always learning something new and exciting to inspire and motivate.

Much Love & Light to you both ~8~

Hi, Padrona.

I'm glad you have found the threads to be a breath of fresh air, healing, and invigorating. If you are getting all that just from this forum- you ain't seen nothin yet.... haha. The courses and meditations themselves are so much more than what you see here. Unfortunately, there aren't a huge number of participants on the forum, but the ones who are here are here pretty regularly.

When I started with Reiki classes earlier this year, I wasn't very familiar with it at all. Once in the first class, I realized I and my daughter had been doing Reiki our whole lives, we just didn't know that's what we were doing. I went ahead and took all the levels very quickly (Reiki ! through Master) because I loved it so much. But then I was off to other things and haven't done much with it since. It's great that you were exposed to most of this when you were young. I am glad you are reconnecting with things that bring you solitude. I am also always leaning something new. I'm in the phase now of taking what I've learned and trying to actually put it into practice My life long search for balance continues.
