oh yes, in line with this thread ... just occurred to me the tradition that says, we should say thank you for everything that happens to us; as whatever it is, it is part of our experience of being here.
Also, 'bad things'; in the words of Shakespeare's Hamlet, speaking to Horatio his friend, 'there is nothing good or bad that thinking makes it so' I remembered the quote, then the association to the tradition of gratitude came up; I think it is an ancient mystical idea, but cannot remember its' source and am too tired to check at 23.21 on a Friday night at the end of a busy week ...
And yet again, who defines who is a 'good person' ? Jesus spoke against those who pray something like, 'thank God that I am not like the next person', didn't he? Noone is good, save God alone ... and sometimes it might appear that S/He [blessed be They] has a way to go ..........................
