What Could Happen Again...

the sky split apart
with a thunderous crash
the stars were sprinkled
glowing the haze
of the indigo horizon
the world alight
the night shuddered
hearts pounded with awe
floodgates opened

and souls were graced
with a brief illumination
of what could be embraced
the glow dimmed
and the sky re-united
a delicate hum remained
the thump in our chests
could not let us forget
the turbulent rapture

of what could happen again...
