George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend upon the support of Paul.

George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)--Irish comic dramatist
A socialist is somebody who doesn't have anything, and is ready to divide it up equally among everybody.

Systems do matter if you live on earth, or should I say, when you are living on earth.

Ohhhh my.........I am surprised  that my literate friend has not jumped in on this one! And, jumped all over you guys, for quoting out of context.
Georgie was a SOCIALIST.....and a Roman Catholic with some Protestant ideas....'cos in Eire he liked a Prot girl.....so you go the way the wind blows the skirt. I know I do!
Before you quote people, Absinthe, you have to understand where they are coming from....and I love that you love a socialist Roman Catholic sentiment.....we will make a Pope out of you yet!!!
Here's to Pope Absolute I.......viva el Papa!!!!!

Personally I was never taken with GBS, not least because of his socialism and the way he sought to weave it into his plays; unlike, for example, Shakespeare, who, for me anyway, wove wonderfully his metaphysics into virtually every line ...

.. as for when in Rome, that is presumably the mistake the early Christian martyrs made, until the conversion of Queen Helena ...

The truth of his quotations is there regardless.

Whoa though, but if his quotations came from his particular beliefs, might that not raise a question about their 'truth' ?

Or to put it another way, if one thinks his quotes contain truth, might there not be some truth in his preconceptions?

Not familiar with the context, but is that an admission on your part? Uh... preconception wise that is. Abstraction is a powerful gift depending on the direction towards
growth or a default based on a mispremise radiating out in at least 2 directions from a perceived truth.
