How about a new thread that reminds us all that there is more to this life than the troubles and worries of the earthly plane? I would like to create a special space where we can share poetry and prose that reminds us of this. Here is my first offering:

JUST A BOWL OF CHERRIES

Life is just a bowl of cherries
Don't take it serious,
Life's too mysterious
You work,
You save,
You worry so,
But you can't take your dough
When you go, go, go.

So keep repeating "It's the berries."
The strongest oak must fall;
The sweet things in life
To you were just loaned;
So how can you lose
What you've never owned?

Life is just a bowl of cherries
So live and laugh, aha!
Laugh and love;
Live and laugh,
Laugh and love,
Live and laugh at it all!

Life is just a bowl of cherries;
Don't take it serious;
Life's too mysterious;
You work,
You save,
You worry so,
But you can't take your dough
When you go, go, go

So keep repeating "It's the berries."
The strongest oak must fall
The sweet things in life
To you were just loaned
So how can you lose
What you've never owned?

Life is just a bowl of cherries
So live and laugh, aha!
Laugh and love;
Live and laugh;
Laugh and love;
Live, and laugh at it all!

Ah yes, but do not cherries have stones (that have to die to be reborn as new cherry trees, of course) ... as roses have thorns .... ?

and yes to that too - thanks for that link !!

     I think screens should be made of sterner stuff....mine has several slash marks on it at this time. The protectors of the queendom sallied forth into the fray to protect kit and kin from a canine intruder....tongue and all.
     It is not so much that they don't like dogs, which they (as a rule) don't.....and, as a matter of fact, the picture to the left is quite true....there was once a Pomeranian rogue member of the gang, who went by the nom-de-plume of Tuppance Finknottle....but I called her Tuppy. I knew she was not a cat....but I refused to betray her secret to the ruling clan. Told them that the other food was a "special diet for the feeble of brain" which gullible and prideful cats accepted.
     What it truly is, is that they don't like ugly dogs. All cats are beautiful as are some dogs. But other dogs are just plain, well, plain (for want of a better word)...OH LET'S THROW POLITICAL CORRECTNESS TO THE WIND......some dogs are stone, dirt, beat by the ugly stick, UGGGLEEEE!
     And I just can't resist......Paris......dogs are not put on this Earth to be carried around in purses! Try putting a cat in a purse....the cat'll scratch your eyes out quicker than you tried to scratch Nicole's out when you found out she put that unsightly run in your $2K knee highs.
And another thing Paris, I knew your fam, Nicky, Conrad and Statler......the Hiltons had lush hotels, the envy of many except JJ Astor (of Waldorf-Astoria fame). A poor slob like me got treated like royalty!!! Maybe you should learn something from them.
    Enough of things to not take too seriously.....but just to have fun.

thankyou Aquarius,this thread has reminded me of how seriously i sometimes take things,even though i have a good sense of humour,it gets drowned and bogged down by the usual trivial stuff,and stops me being truly me.

mr muppet,all cats and dogs are potentialy lovely and cute,like people,then life happens,lordy lordy,ther i go again,taking things seriously,i do love your cute cats,hope you like my cute dogs,some things animals,people,can be ugly to look at,but inside beats a heart and spirit of gold,all that glitters is not right,okay,away iris,today i shall smile,tomorrow i wish to laugh,irisx

Hey Sunnyside Up:
     Never met an animal I didn't like.....though a possum scared the heck out of me one time. I was a bit taken when I opened the trash can and saw this almost white, ghostly face looking up at me. Oh, and the time the batboy decided to live in the stairwell of my old townhouse, which was very tall.....and the master bedroom is on the tippytop where the bat is flying around.
     The cats leaped at that bat, and, unwisely doing so, fell to the bottom landing, about 50 feet.
I learned how they fall without hurting themselves............they twist and right themselves and then land in a crouch with the back feet taking the first impact and transferring the energy to their front feet via an undulating spine.  Most vids neglect to focus on what roll the spine plays.
     If they can't right themselves, or if they hit something that does not allow them to land in a crouch.....well, disastre usually follows.

here is apoem i made earlier (sounds like blue peter,a programme here for children)

I woke with mind of troubles
Another cloudy day
i searched my mind for comfort
none would come my way
then through out the window
the clouds did gently part
a ray of sunshine smiled at me
it warmed right through my heart
it was if the angels heard me
and sent me lots of love
telling me forget your woe
theres always help above
my spirits were rekindled
i felt a warmth unknown
a message to remind us
we never walk alone

love to all who are feeling ill,depresed,alone,in pain,and a healing to the world.love iris x

Stones are the best part of the cherry!
I like to spit them into the river and watch them float away.
They'll be trees themselves one day.
And thorns, all the more reason to smell the roses intact.
But if you do have someone special enough to suffer the pricks.
All the sweeter, your blood, for their happiness.

     I liked your poem very much. Why don't you put it to music?
Do you play an instrument?
     Hey, I recall our fleet of finger Paul does, indeed, play!
Collaberation time, maybe??????

Yeah, I know the feeling SF, I too cannot read music. I always wanted to learn, but never had the chance. I also play the piano by ear and I can play and keep up with all the songs on Rock Band II on the drums. I could have easily become a drummer in a band, or a piano player as well as a singer. The problem is, I never had lessons and never learned to read music. I never gained the confidence to go with it anyway. So I just enjoy the music without it.

One of my all time favorite movies about music is: August Rush. What a beautiful movie... it actually made me cry.... but I do hear music in many things. Music is my world.

If heaven has Rock N Roll music (My heaven will)... you know they have a hell of a band. LOL just like the song....

HUGS to all

People before us sang plays.....they didn't speak words. The Greeks sang all the epics that kids and adults today consider dreary and unnecessary. But, if one could just hear the music, a whole new meaning unfolds.
Sunny....go and find the link to Prof. Bagby in his recitation of Beowulf....he is speaking, singing YOUR language, which is English.....a language which I do not speak. How beautiful it is!!!!

The only thing I take seriously is the ballad of "Isis" since I did marry her on the 5th day of May, but I could not hold on to her at all...so I cut off my hair and I rode straight away, to the wild north country where I could not go wrong!

If you take "The Narrow Road to the Deep North" ....

" ... any season [can be] a good season." for you
