Paul Joseph - 11/13/2008 2:18 PM cannot just now remember who said, 'music hath charms to tame the savage beast' ?

Hiya Paulyoh:

Happy Birthday to BBC Radio....born way way back in 14 Novembre 1922!

Um....often the most misquoted quote....and probably due to a Merrie Melodies cartoon.....my source is Willie boyo Congreave in "The Morning Bride" and it is:

"Music has charms to soothe the savage breast

To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak"

Peas 'n Porridge,

Marty and Cats in Liver--y, Luck, Popp, and Siss

Thanks Marty - woke up this morning, looked at my post and dimly realized my error, but thought - oh well, too late to edit, let's see what happens, maybe I made the mistake for a reason - and the reason was, we could say hello again !

(Though if you check back to my Orpheus link, it will be seen that Orpheus' music did indeed soothe the savage beast, though not certain impassioned females ...)

Children in Need night on BBC TV - charity TV to raise funds for childrens' charities .... posted loads of stuff today and logged on to find much of it had disappeared - not a bad thing, as I had been tweaking my signature and location, then logged back on to change it all again, and it simply had reverted anyway, so a higher power must be thankfully at work !

Thanks for the kind words Paul (entering el castle)

I realized this week during preparation for my 14yr old daughter's cello concert that her intrest in music has also grown because of my intrest in learning music. I truly wanted to learn for my own personal growth and pleasure, but I am starting to realize that I was guided this way. My daughter that plays the cello is the quiet one...never in trouble...never fussy...easier to overlook for the louder children demanding attention. We have found a way to reconnect to each other this week through sharing our passion for music. At her age, I was beginning to think we would never be close and have opportunities to create even more bonds so that I can be there for her when she needs to talk (she never wants to be a bother so she keeps events in her life to herself and her feelings). This has been a beautiful blessing, I can't even describe how much this means to me...

Blessed Be
MZ

Marty - do you mean the great Patrick McGoohan ? I think he is of Irish stock isn;t he ? Anyhow - The Prisoner is my fave TV programme of all time. A little known fact is that Patrick M was approached to play James Bond - back in the '60s - but turned it down on moral grounds.

Oy vey....should have never switched from Tullamore Dew to Glenfiddich. INDEED, and I have been visited by Eamon De Valera himself...for my folly...but we had a good time talking about the old sod.....Brooklyn, New York. If Ireland ever needs another great President, Brooklyn is ready! Perhaps the next will be Seamus Rodriguez!
Thanks, PJay
P&L,

mind you, as we will all know, The Prisoner was set in a mysterious village that turned out to be in Wales !!

I am worried that they are planning to remake the series ... that never works ....

it had a great theme tune too ....

cheers Marty & Iris, Marsha & Paul xx

(maybe I'd better be Pablo or Paulo now, as there are two of us!!)
