Here is a pic of one of my breeding pairs of plumheads. And another pic of my Molluccan cockatoos and my pet plumheads. I had other birds too. But, I don't think I have any electronic pics worth sending. NO more pets around my house these days. A blessing really.

My sis, a veteran of hurricanes doesn't seem to be worried, as Gus will roll on by the Florida coast and head for the Gulf. But, I am a bit concerned for our folks in "Looseyana"....they just can't take another Katrina! "We" all appreciate your kind intentions!

I cannot help it, but the title of this thread keeps reminding me of Petie off Dumb and Dumber.
The blind boy kept petting Petie saying "Pretty Birdie". WATCH CLIP HERE

LMAO. Now that is stuck in my head.

Okay C, I didn't know what they were called. Like that name. And the ones with the most blue on them, those are my favorites. They are the most gentle of the bunch and just as sweet. They were a little less trusting but once they became comfortable with me they were really sweet.

C, those are beauties! I really like the colors. The head on the green one that's really gorgeous. I've never seen one like that. And the beak is two different colors. These birds are such a work of art, each one is so unique.

Leave it to Marty and the Furballs to make me laugh so hard....."show us the menu again". You are too much.

The pretty birds are not for the menu....the furballs will need to remove their bibs and put down their forks and knives...

Yes they said on the news that everyone out there that hasn't cleared out of New Orleans is on their own. They really don't need another disaster...many prayers I send...light, love and protection.

That's funny Doc, that may be where I got that from. I love watching that movie and there's another series where this guy is trying to fix his Karma, and his friend is pretty "simple" a lot like the characters of Dumb and Dumber....

I've never seen cockatoos, with that much color on them. That's what they are, aren't they? I really like that peach color on those birds.

Actually, Marty, one of my plumheads was a meal to my dogs. My bog male Eskie (dog) looked particularly guilty that day. Ah well. odgs will be dogs and boys will be boys. And, boy dogs will be boy dogs.

And, teh cockatoos are Mollucan cockatoos. They are peachy white. With a good diet, the colors are more pronounced. The crest feathers which are tucked when they are at rest are bright, roadside 'caltrans' or construction vest orange. They raise their crests in display of emotion. Usually in interest or alarm. They also raise their beak feathers over their beaks to hide their beaks when they are nervous. It's kinda cute. ANother funny feature that is not apparent unless you are in close contact with them, their feathers make a rustling sound like that of taffeta when they move. When they walk around or move it sound like they are wearing a prom dress!

Oh other funny bordie behaviors...

beak grinding... a comfort behavior. They do it when they are realxed. It keeps the beak well maintained. A long beak indicates a stressed bird.

branch thumping in cocktoos... a cocktoo (like many bids will sleep/rest on one leg). when alarmed, it will thump hard on the branch/perch to raise an alarm to other birds who are roosting. It seems harmless unless you are the perch! ANd, is even more alraming to the human who is thumped with a big foot either on the shoulder or the chest. It doesn't hurt, it is just shocking. Mostly likely you are at rest with the bird resting on you. You might shift positions, and wammo, thump! I guess it is better than a nip. Other birds might nip instead.

Most parrots will preen their owner as if he/she is their mate. All of my birds used to preen my hair which felt fantastic. The little guys would even preen my eyelashes. The cockatoos would try to pluck off my fingernails. That was a problem.

Anywho, stupid pet/animal trivia.

Kestral ancient dinosaur

In our bowls, we want more!

We eat the T and the Rex

And will ask

What course is next?

Some think us prissy in our taste

When there is food,

we come with haste!

Here he comes...we must be quick....

Or he'll give us quite a lick!

So we greet you through Comcast,

We are truly Marty's Cats!!!!!!!!!!!!
