Right and Left reminds me of a recent course here at UMS regarding the Ida and Pingala when the Kundalini is awakening...here is another worthy piece of information:

Lori, That reminds me also of not only Kundalini awakening, but of pranayama too. Both classes are in UMS curriculum. Both taught some really good stuff.....Thank you for reminding me.

Pranayama talks about activating brain sides through, through breathing through the nose.
I know that many want the full spirit realm, but we could not function as human, with out these two sides of the brain. (at least until we graduate earth). LOL

WOW! I didn't read this until now!
I write with my left hand and tend to do most automatic things as a lefty, i.e. I keep the car keys in my left pocket, pick up a glass with my left hand, use chopstix with my left hand..etc.
And, Jilly, in base and soft ball I bat lefty, but pitch righty.
In martial arts I favor my right, as I think I have more power, and can do a mean roundhouse kick as long as I spin to the left but use my right leg. When I spin to the right and try to use my left leg, I usually fall.
When I cook I hold the knife in my right hand to chop, slice and dice, yet I toss and turn woks and pans with my left.
When I have to do precision work, I use my left hand.
I am dismal at doing things that require coordination with both hands, such as playing a guitar, drumming, playing video games, etc. I hate manual transmissions and always buy auto's, since I can't seem to shift exactly when I want to, which involves the left foot and right hand.
What do you make of this? Very curious!!!!!!!!!

Peace and love,

Ambidextrious.....

Meaning you learned to balance both sides. But, to learn which way your flow goes is to find your stronger hand vs your weaker hand. Weaker side is the finder, stronger side is the healer.

For one to say there is a problem with one side, I would have to think of either physical problem, or energy block.

I too, have things I can do with my left hand. I can shoot a whole game of pool, left handed, and win. I cannot write with my left hand, at all. LOL, it's horrible.

To think of Left hand being negative, is in my own opinion, a line of BS from those who where gullable enough to believe in the BS they were taught, by very frightened people in times of very little knowledge and education.  Since one cannot have  right, with out left, or even right with out wrong... both must exist. One is neither better or worse than the other.

Imagine just how gullable people used to be, compaired to now. Maybe some really had some good knowledge, that is cherrished, but others just had no spiritual bone in their body and feared EVERYTHING!

Know what I mean?

Funny conversation!!

I am extremely dominantly left handed, except for the mouse, I use my right paw. My son who is right handed had a stroke at the age of 12 on the left side of his brain causing a deficit on the right side of his body. He had to learn how to become left handed! When he was going through occupational and physical therapies we would do sort of solidarity and empathy therapy with him so we could associate with what he was going through, so we all walked around the house using our non dominant hand for a long time!!!!

He also couldn't even carry a tune in a bucket to save his own life, and post stroke now he is a producer of music and a composer on the keyboard. Amazing!!!!

Hello Lori ... re: your son, sounds a big journey he and you all took ... we don't know if he would have been musical before, but your story is suggestive of what has been said that, the left, intuitive and emotional side in him as been truly awakened, and found success in his music. Lovely story, thanks for sharing, as ever,
Paul

Left side is normally associated with logic and numbers, perhaps the more concetrated on that side, he understood more, due to being forced to use that side more. It truly is amazing how we are compensated when we lose something. What a blessing to have such an experience. Yet, I bet it was very scary during the process of all that.

Thank you very much for sharing indeed.

From Ken Wilber's 'Integral Psychology' (Shambhala Press, 1999; page 592):

"Many people are initially confused as to why and how interpretation is intrinsic to the universe .... all Right-Hand events - all sensorimotor objects and empirical processes and 'its' - can be seen with the senses or their extensions. They all have simple location; you can actually point to most of them (rocks, towns, trees, lakes, stars, roads, rivers...)

But Left-Hand, or interior events cannot be seen in that fashion. You cannot see love, envy, wonder, compassion, insight, intentionality, spiritual illumination, states of consciousness, value or meaning running around out there in the empirical world. Interior events are not seen in an exterior or objective manner, they are seen by introspection and interpretation "

Here is a MUST SEE video, about a Brain Scientist, who had a stroke. She describes it very well, she also talks about metaphysical realms - (Right side brain = spiritual, left side = non spiritual). Simply remarkable.

Well we have a mystery of interpretation here then, 'cos Wilber is very well researched, and he follows in the perennnial tradition - also, there are extensive references in this to Jung in his alchemical researches (see Volume 12 of his Collected Works), viz., left as symbolizing the unconscious - hence actually, our traditional, but wrong, antipathy towards -left-handedness, because of our fear of the unconscious: in the uk left-handed children were forced to write in a right-handed way, thus from the point of view of depth psychology, persecuting them ...

An extract, from:

http://www.allspirit.co.uk/ashtavakra.html

I am infinite like space, and the natural world is like a jar. To know this is knowledge, and then there is neither renunciation, acceptance, or cessation of it.

I am like the ocean, and the multiplicity of objects is comparable to a wave. To know this is knowledge, and then there is neither renunciation, acceptance or cessation of it.

I am like the mother of pearl, and the imagined world is like the silver. To know this is knowledge, and then there is neither renunciation, acceptance, or cessation of it.

Alternatively, I am in all beings, and all beings are in me. To know this is knowledge, and then there is neither renunciation, acceptance, or cessation of it.

Paul wrote,"the heart sees Love that's True x"

Can anyone really define True Love?

Is there really such a phenomenon outside of primal breeding urges? Chemical responses that bring us together and then stop....where we find ourselves thrown into a state of "what the hell happened here? Who is this person? Why am I here?" Is there such a thing as a love that lasts forever? And if so, how so and why?

We are ever changing and Love is something shared by many for and with one another. So, is it then that important to secure the love of just one significant other "forever?"

Or is it more important to just Love and allow Love forever?

These are all the questions I must answer before I get to the middle of my Tootsie Pop. And I'm not sure how many licks that will take, so if anyone has the answers...quickly...please answer quickly.

Love and Peace...

.. Hmmm... did I say that ? Are you sure ? ....

I know I said,

Your heart will be your best guide....

and elsewhere I quoted the Fox in the Little Prince, saying the heart sees what cannot be seen with the eyes, or something like that ... defining True Love would take a little longer .. I do feel that loves loves for other than its own sake, and wants the best for the loved one, even if that means permitting it the freedom not to be loved in return .. as for the rest ...
