MORNING PRAYER

Let me today do something that shall take
A little sadness from the world’s vast store.
And may I be so favoured as to make
Of joy’s too scanty sum a little more.
Let me not hurt, by any selfish deed
Or thoughtless word, the heart of foe or friend.
Nor would I pass, unseeing, worthy need,
Or sin by silence when I should defend.

However meagre be my worldly wealth,
Let me give something that shall aid my kind.
A word of courage, or a thought of health,
Dropped as I pass for troubled hearts to find.
Let me tonight look back across the span
‘Twixt dawn and dark, and to my conscience say
Because of some good act to beast or man
The world is better that I lived today.’

Ella Wheeler Wilcox, S.R.C.

You were my light

I've been standing in the darkness
underneath this cozy light
It protects me from evil
and shelters me at night

It's rays have always blocked out
the strongest turrential rain
and through earthquake thunder
kept me smiling and sane

Friends come and friends go
but i have found my place
there's nowhere else i'd rather be
than in these heavenly rays

Happiness was aplenty
my grass was always greener
the water might as well been wine
the roses smelled much sweeter

The wind only blew gently
The raindrops were never cold
this perfect light was what i needed
I was confident and bold

but now the light has grown dim
i lose my way as it goes out
the luxurious comfort i once had
I must learn to live without

I should've known to just stay put
and been convicted on my own
But i wandered off into the night
to find a better home

and none of the other beacons
seem to shine nearly as bright
i cannot see too far ahead
i lost my direction, and my insight

True love knows no judgment
And lasts through thick and thin
even when the lights are out
don't leave on just a whim

and though i found a new post
it isn't nearly the same
I lost what wonders i once had
and there's only me to blame
I grit my teeth and trudge on forward
my head hung in shame...

Thank you for sharing another one of your beautiful poems with us. My offering is not one of my own, but – well, see for yourself. With love – Aquarius

REFLECTIONS ON TIME

Have you ever considered that:

There is only now,

That yesterday and today are an illusion?

The past we call history;

The future will always be a mystery;

And this moment of here and now is a gift.

Could that be why we call it the present?

Anon.

A little something you all might enjoy!!

>----lucid----<

irresistable manipulations lay heavily
sufficating my innocence
my existance

my last exhale
escaped

my heart opened
you hovered
drawing my breathe past my forsaken lips
further down your life

with such a horrendous fight
the mind was left empty
no more thoughts
no more love

my eyes stared reluctantly
down my own path

imagining chaos
forseeing shadows and demons

what a glorious site it was for you
your fairy tale had finally come true

when you saw my corrupted existence
did you blow your peak?
did you take it like a man and cry?
did you feel sorry?

you must not be...
my god

my god would have taken my hand
my god would have shared my soul

you must not be...
my god

I walked alone
day after day
praying for help

wispers was all i got

your wispers baffel me!

playfully deceitful,
yet......
breathtaking

My freedom
is all I carry on
my chest
I paced through the fire
with your body,
and through my
eyes......

you saw an angel

Here is one of my own:

I AM LOVE
Do you want to know my name? Does it matter?
But if you insist, I will tell you;
It’s no secret, you know me anyway: I am Love.
I am in you and you are in me; we are one;
I am all of you and you are all of me;
You know me, as I know you;
We have always known each other, for we are one;
We are in the whole of Creation.
We are the living, beating heart of the Universe,
For we are love.

Yesterday and tomorrow exist only in the illusion
You and I are presently living in.
In truth, there are no yesterdays and no tomorrows,
There is only now and the now is love.
We are all there ever was and all there ever will be;
We are alive and always have been;
We cannot die, for we are unborn;
We are eternally young and will never grow old,
For truly there is no death!
So death, where is thy sting? You have no hold on us!

All there is lies within us.
The eternal fountain of youth and Shangri-La
Are neither dreams nor illusions;
They are states of consciousness and part of our inner Truth.
That’s why they can’t be found in the world around us.
The seeming reality of earthly life is a dream and an illusion,
But now it’s time to wake and come fully alive again
To our true nature and reality,
Which we are required to manifest in this world,
And that is love.

Trumpets are sounding and mission bells calling:
‘Wake up, come alive!’
Can you hear them or are you sleeping still?
If so, listen to the responses that come
To you from the depths of your own heart and soul,
When you are reading what is before you, now.
We are the only ones who can take us into
Our inner, true and eternal reality,
And that is love.

We are there already, though many still do not yet know.
Something is stirring deep within every heart and soul,
Like butterflies’ wings,
Making them wonder: ‘What could that mean?’
Until finally there comes the realisation
That there is nowhere to go and nothing to do,
Except going inside and gently surrendering to our Highest Self,
So It can help find our way back into our true reality
And to be once again what we always have been:
Love.

Hand in hand with God and the Angels,
We are the resurrection of God’s motherly/fatherly
Love on the Earth.
We are here to be the Light of our world.
May it shine ever more strongly in you and me;
And may it spread to those around us,
Until every shred of the darkness of ignorance that still exists
In our world, has been dissolved.
All the Power and the Glory of the Universe are hidden within each one,
Waiting to responsibly be taken possession of, by us.

Armageddon is the symbol of the battle
Between our Highest and our lower self,
That has been taking place inside each one of us, for far too long.
Neither of them is meant to always rule supreme,
And it now is everybody’s task
To come to terms with and reconcile these two parts,
To heal them together into one,
So that they can to work together
For the Highest good of the whole,
And that is love.

No day of reckoning, no retributions and punishments,
Only a waking up
And a resurrection of and homecoming into
Knowing who and what we truly are and always have been:
And that is love.
And then hand in hand with God and the Angels,
Learning all there is to know about what that truly means.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Thank you, Mother/Father Creator,
For the beauty and the wonder of Your Creation;
Thank you for allowing us all to take part in it.
Thank You for all the natural beauty You are giving into our care,
And also for all the technical wonders,
Which You are creating through us and giving to our world.
May Your creative ideas continue to flow through our technicians,
To help us all to bring a better and more peaceful world into being,
Where all equally share the gifts that come from Your abundance.

Thank you especially for the miracle of the Internet,
For the wonder of being able to meet and get to know,
Through communications that take only seconds,
Like-minded people, our sisters and brothers,
Throughout our whole planet.
Help us all to re-awaken to our true nature,
So that we can slowly bring ever more light into our world,
Including the Internet,
Until it too will finally have been cleansed of all darkness.

Guide and protect us and show us how to use this wonderful tool
Wisely and for the Highest good of all,
So that we may treat it the same way as all Your miracles,
Technical and otherwise,
With love and respect for You, the One who created it, through us.

Help each one of us to do our share of blessing and healing,
Saving and redeeming ourselves each other,
Our world and all worlds,
Hand in hand with You and the Angels,
Now and forever.
Amen

Thoughts or criticism please?

Downward Spiral

And down she went,
on that wednesday morning,
sliding with a smile like,
morning glories.
Gleeful and happy
Arms reaching out to the sky,
as she plummets head first,
and dives,
into the chaos and rain,
of who to blame.
It's a new time, but not quite the same
It's a game, where i'm stuck,
and have to feign, ignorance,
but i find it strange,
her eyes are the color of deception
as she smiles,
making my heart bleed,
filling my stomach with bile.

I reach out to catch her, as she spins,
but the thought of letting me in
fills her with burning, from within,
and crumbles her soul to dust,
as we misplay these hands of trust.

She's blind to see, the true story,
and fails to notice, that i, subliminally,
know it all, but i won't slip, and fall,
into this abyss of darkness,
where the white crow cawes.

We were in Lover's Lane,
but she took that off-ramp,
that was only one way.
And now I'm running along,
against the current,
crying and screaming into the turrent,
of danger,
but she's smiling,
and I'll wager:
That she can't see this isn't a slide,
it isn't a bone, or joyride,
It's something greater,
something in her,
a downhill spiral,
but i know it's true

God give me strngth, to see it through.
and Devil back off or I'll destroy you.
Because I am power,
and i can bring disease,
you think it's hard now,
well you wouldn't believe,
what i can give and what i can take,
what i can create and what i can break.
Sometimes the only way to save a soul,
is to destroy another, even if it's wise and old.
I will rot your body and possess your mind,
break your faith and leave you blind.

If you ever wanna walk this world again,
you better find another place to sell your sin,
Because I'm a plague with no cure,
I will take your soul and make it pure.
I'll cleanse and I'll be,
what sets your sould free,
so if you wanna keep,
your immortality,
you better change your name,
and forfeit this game,
Or vengence and fire i will reign
down with righteouss power
and a wrath of fury
and destroy your perfect hell,
and don't worry,
I'll take what's mine and save you for last,
Your name will be forgotten,
You'll be the past...

Truth is what things are,
Before our minds can touch them.
The best way we can see the world,
Is turn our gaze within.
Perfection is the state of being,
Before we evaluate it,
Everything is in it's place.
Remember to intuit.

A MESSAGE OF HOPE
To the ones I love and who love me:
‘When I am gone, release me; let me go.
You and I, we both have many things to see and do.
Do not tie yourself to me in tears.
I gave to you my love and you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you have shown,
But, for now it’s time for me to travel on – alone.

So, grieve a while, if grieve you must.
But not for me, only for yourself and
For the hole my passing has left in your life.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust,
And remember that it is only for a while that part we must.
Bless the memories within your heart,
And know that no love is ever lost.
Life is eternal – it goes on and on,
Not just for you and for me, but for us all.

You and I can now come closer than we have ever been;
I shall never be further away from you than a thought.
If you need me, call and I’ll be near.
Although you can neither see nor touch me,
Know that I am there.
And when you listen inside your own heart,
You are sure to feel my love too, soft and clear.

And then, one fine day –
When you must come this way –
Alone – I shall be there to greet you,
With a smile I shall welcome you home.’

All good stuff on this threas; sorry to join late ... as for words of comfort for the bereaved, I guess it is 'old hat' to offer,

'Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep ..'

The rest can be offered, if not known, written by a Canadian woman, great comfort to me whwn my father died, 2005 ..

Otherwise, a Zen koan, translated (source unknown)

'Inch, time, foot, gem
This moment will not come again'

Best

Ongoingbattle wondered if I might post some poetry on here. I have put some of my stuff onto a rather poor blogspot, which shuld be accessible on

http://pilgrimimages.blogspot.com

But if that doesn't work, as sometimes it doesnt seem to, maybe someone might let me know and if it's easier I'll put some directly onto this site.

On reflection, it might be easier for folk to just post one here now.... the following was written after my father died in 2005 (before I encountered UMS)

POEMS OF MISSING

1.

The world is unfurled to us
Through our goodbyes

Each farewell an eternity
Of a death already here

Our only unique certainty
Sunrise begets sunset

2.

If time could stand still
If we could go back

If the rainbow were black
If the hill wore a veil

If gaol was release
If the fire did not burn

If the tide did not turn
If please, you had not died

3.

I never told you that I loved you
I never told you that I cared

I never thought how I loved you
I never thought I cared

I barely touched or held you
I barely talked to you at all

I never knew the depth of longing
I would feel when you had gone

I never knew I’d cry for you
I never knew you would die

I did not know how I’d miss you
I barely knew you at all
4.

One day we may
Be ghosts, were we ever

Lucky and others
Not. Now birth, then

Memory of tomorrow
Yesterday and never

5.

One day we may be angels:
Fantastic futures for tales that were,

But will not be again. Only what can
Be drawn now, in the hearts

And minds of others
Might outlast a die already cast

NothingEverything - your first line reminded me of 'The Man with the Blue Guitar' by, I think, Walalce Stevens - which at this exact moment I cannot remember, although I referred to it in another post somewhere. It's evoked by the Picasso painting. A key line is something like,

'Play they said, a tune, beyond us far
Things (?the truth is?) are changed upon the blue guitar

Agree with your metaphysical sentiments !

Dear All

Researched this poem and the first stanza, by Wallace Stevens, is as follows:

The man bent over his guitar,
A shearsman of sorts. The day was green.

They said, "You have a blue guitar,
You do not play things as they are."

The man replied, "Things as they are
Are changed upon the blue guitar."

And they said then, "But play, you must,
A tune beyond us, yet ourselves,

A tune upon the blue guitar
Of things exactly as they are."

It used to be one of the favourite poems of a long deceased Anglican Fransiscan monk dear friend of mine.

ps, I should have said that when I originally wrote Crucifix, I sang it; ie, it has a tune, of sorts.

was it a tune you made up? or did you use a pre-existing one? I like to see writing in it's original context. with any sound, light, picture, etc that it may have been written with

Ongoingbattle - it was a tune that came with the poem, from my head, whilst playing a guitar, in c.1977. I would happily post it/paste it, but since my meditation tape got lost on its way to ums, I am stuck there. Nice of you to be interested, i must say.
