aah what a divine connection to the Sacred Mother, Sunflower, great link ...nice, thanks Humm x

... as for Quintissential (not sure I've spelt it right either but too busy to check!) - I think it means the absolute essence, core, heart of anything .. there was a good 70s rock band called, Quintessence, who did quite metaphysical music as I recall.

.... maybe they have gone into the world of Jabberwocky, with the frumious bandersnatch, where words can mean what you want them to mean and just enjoy the sound & music they make ...

but why 'D', if we were on 'Q' or even perchance, 'R' ... ahh .. we maybe lost in the Wood of Words within the Trees of Dipthongs and Vowels and Epithets, amidst the Forests of Witherings and Wonderings ... where broken signposts lead us to the beaches and shores of Eternal Play and Wonderous Folly ..

... now where were we .. ?!

(placing D in parenthesis, until we get back there ... that ok Sunflower?)

S = Shambhala: in Tibetan Buddhsim an ancient mythical spiritual kingdom hidden deep in the Himalaya (also thus now a publishing house of esotriec books, and contemporary meditation centres) ... in Sanskrit, a place of peace and happiness ...

"T"- TengYingfen............8th century Ch'an sage who decided to shock his students by not taking to his deathbed but to stand on his head until he died.This was in the hope he would give some of his students enough of a psychic shock they would instantly attain "satori"(enlightenment). Phew

Hmmm .. an upside down death poem then (reminiscing back to NE and his Death Poems) ... and I wonder if he influenced Lewis Carrol's 'Father William' - "you are old Father William the young man said ...'is that why you repeatedly stand on your head' "
... that's not qute right from memory .. now from wikisource ... & Alice in Wonderland ..

"You are old, Father William," the young man said,
"And your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly stand on your head -
Do you think, at your age, it is right?"

"In my youth," Father William replied to his son,
"I feared it might injure the brain;
But now that I'm perfectly sure I have none,
Why, I do it again and again."

"You are old," said the youth, "As I mentioned before,
And have grown most uncommonly fat;
Yet you turned a back-somersault in at the door -
Pray, what is the reason of that?"

"In my youth," said the sage, as he shook his grey locks,
"I kept all my limbs very supple
By the use of this ointment - one shilling the box -
Allow me to sell you a couple?"

"You are old," said the youth, "And your jaws are too weak
For anything tougher than suet;
Yet you finished the goose, with the bones and the beak
Pray, how did you manage to do it?"

"In my youth," said his father, "I took to the law,
And argued each case with my wife;
And the muscular strength which it gave to my jaw,
Has lasted the rest of my life."

"You are old," said the youth, "one would hardly suppose
That your eye was as steady as ever;
Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose -
What has made you so awfully clever?"

"I have answered three questions, and that is enough,"
Said his father; "don't give yourself airs!
Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff?
Be off, or I'll kick you down stairs!"

SSoorrryyyyyy Dear Cara

It is me, me, all me, sorry - there was indeed an R, your Rue, and I just got carried away with the poetical associations to the lovely poem by AEH, that I quite forgot where we started ... please forgive me that, and also

.. i must pray, beg forebearance with introducing Alice, Father William and elsewhere Jabberowcky ... my assoicaitons tend to run free and wild when the Barakka hits me on the site, and takes me anywhere the Divine It, or Thou wills .... isn;t that part of the metaphysical fun ?

Also, Lewis Carroll's real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (I think) and he was a mathematician, and we have also writen elsewhere as to how maths reflects the Divine ... & isn;t Alice a symbolically metaphysical text?

... we have written elsehwre on how poetry means, making, creation, the word, and in employing the word creatively we are reflecting God's Work ... well that's my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it ..

But I do admit, I am very hard work (on myself more than most), and many say, far too intense ...

Is that clearer ? Hope so; let me know if not ....

more than happy to oblige Cara dear -

W = William Shakespeare, poet, playwright, dramatist, sometime property owner in Stratford on Avonm, married to Anne hathaway, whose poetical works, in my humble opinion, spanned the range and gamut of humanity, plumbing depths and heights of metaphysical awarenesses in most subtle of ways .. especially his Hamlet ... and those sonnets, dedicated to the Dark Lady ...

Namaste

impossible to know how he did it really

(if W for a first name doesn;t count let me know and I'll do another !)

Great one ... and, with all due respect to other faiths, how close that is to Christian symbolism ...

"Y"  Yoruba religion

Yoruba believe in a supreme being, in primordial divinities, and spirits that have been deified. God is known as Olodumare (the one who has the fullness of everything) and Olorun (the owner of heaven, the Lord whose abode is in the heaven above). Other names are also used that reflect the Yoruba belief that God has all the possible attributes of a person.
As the Supreme Being created heaven and earth, he also brought into existence hundreds of divinities, and the spirits (Orisa, or Imole, and Ebora). Other historical figures, such as kings, culture heroes, founders of cities, etc. were deified, and are invoked along with personifications of natural forces such as earth, wind, trees, river, lagoon, sea, rock, hills and mountains. As in other African societies, Yoruba also believe in the active existence of the deceased ancestors.
