And whilst I am about it, why not - here is another thread on Play.

For those of bookish mentailty, the great psychoanalyst D W Winnicott, whom I have quoted here before, suggested that the capacity to Play was one of the most mature and wonderful ways in which a child can become a whole and creative person.

Maybe we could use this thread to become more playful, if we feel we are not being playful. I dunno. But either way, tossing it in to see what happens.

Play is my theme.... If it's not fun... I generally don't do it.

OK, we cannot do this ALWAYS, but... we can for the most part. I mean... even doing dishes I will sing and dance around the kitchen... or talk on the phone, giggling away.

Fun is a choice in the mind... we can choose to lighten the mood, laugh much... or choose to let things irritate the heck out of us. I think laughter is extremely important.

Play was part of my hypnotherapy training. 5 or 6 of us would get in the center of the room and just start playing
as children. Even our voices got higher in pitch. We were direct and simple. A lot of fun.

Peace and Joy,

A.S.

I lighten up by running barefoot outside and playing in the dirt during the day, gazing at the moon at night...

My play is on the computer - Using Sony's Vegas7 Pro, I make short movies that I show to other Vets who are confined to the VA Hospital. I also play on an electronic keyboard and create music for my movies. My play also includes using Photoshop7 to make still-images for my movies. Play is when we are most creative.

In case it is too far back in the mists of Board-time, a wonderful quote from Rabindranath Tagore, that Winnicott cites at the start of one of his books, is:

"On the seashore of endless worlds, children meet"

It is from a longer poem by Tagore. Kind of reminds me too of the Board

Hello Disa also, see you are on-line just now ... on that seashore .....
