Scholarship Guidelines

At this time, UMS offers partial scholarships by waiving the $195 downpayment on the long term four year payment plan for students who can make the $50 per month payments, but cannot come up with the first $195. All scholarship awards are only given for the long term plan. No scholarships are awarded on the pre-payment, short or medium term plans. Please be honest if you are not in extreme poverty without a possibility of meeting our low monthly payment plan. Most low income people in the USA and other affluent countries can still meet our $50 per month payment plan. We have kept our tuition low and designed the long term payment plan for these purposes, yet the education offered by UMS is worth far more than the tuition being charged. Those who are on disability or SSI, who receive a government check every month, are not eligible for scholarship awards based on that alone. Please submit by postal mail to the UMS/California branch all rent receipts, a balance sheet of your expenses versus your income, and copies of your W2 forms or payment amounts. A committee will review your request and make a decision within 2 weeks.

Guidelines & Suggestions

The first step is to gather all your W2 forms, paystubs, and other pertinent proof of income. Also gather all rent receipts, bills, expenses, and a copy of the past three months of your bank account balance (you can black out your account number for privacy purposes). We must have copies of the past six months of all earnings versus all expenses and the past three months of your bank account balance form, or we cannot process your request for a scholarship award.

The second step is to create an expenses versus income sheet like the one below:
